Local Economic Development and Indigenous Rights Guatemala

Union de Comites y Organizaciones Comalapences y de Guatemala ONG (ACOCGUA) is a Civil Society Organization which aims at increasing the productivity and sustainability of economic activities carried out by local indigenous farming communities in Guatemala. By fostering local economic development they also address environmental concerns, women rights, education, public security, and other issues related to the indigenous communities of Guatemala and Central America.

 

SDGI has been working with ACOCGUA since 2010. SDGI is currently providing ACOCGUA with the following services:

    • Building and consolidating institutional capacity
    • Providing technical assistance and strategic co-operation advisory services
    • Co-ordination of partner networks
    • Creation and dissemination of communication tools and strategies such as website (in construction), newsletter, feeds
    • Fostering local economic development by facilitating the implementation of local social entrepreneurial projects, productivity and trade programmes
